Purpose

The OSPA Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has gone above and beyond the norm in service to the field of school psychology, and has made lasting contributions to the practice of school psychology in our state.

Who Can Nominate?

Any school psychologist, administrator, or teacher in the State of Oklahoma may nominate a practicing school psychologist for this award.

Selection Criteria

Nominees for the award should meet the following criteria:

  • Years of Distinguished Service
  • The award is for lifetime achievement rather than for a single contribution, no matter how monumental. Nominees should have a minimum of 25 years of distinguished service to the field of school psychology.
  • Has had membership and/or leadership in local, state, and national professional organizations
  • Made contributions to the advancement of the field of school psychology (presentations, serving on state department of education committees, projects)
  • Highly regarded as an exceptional mentor and role model by professional colleagues

Candidates will be evaluated in terms of major contributions to the field throughout their careers in the following areas:

  • Direct service to children, schools, and families
  • Service through the administration or supervision of school psychological or related services
  • Service to the profession through local and state organizations dedicated to the development and implementation of school psychological services
  • Service to the profession through the development of school psychological training programs or through continuing professional development
  • Service to the profession through research and publication that contributes to the knowledge base of the field
  • Consistent record of advocacy for school psychology

    • Click on the "nomination form" link above to complete with candidate information, nominator information, and a professional statement (600 words or less) about the candidate which includes professional accomplishments, contributions to the field, and commitment to the field of school psychology in Oklahoma.
  • Nominations will be reviewed by the OSPA board. Additional information may be requested from the candidate including, but not limited to:
    • Vitae or resume
    • Candidate statement
    • Letter from supervisors or teachers who work closely with candidate
